What does blogging do for you?

It satisfies me in a way no other internet-based activity can. Twice a week it collects my laundry and does the ironing. On Sundays it does a roast with all the trimmings. It ensures that my nails are always perfectly manicured. It will go out in the rain to get me DVDs and popcorn if I'm feeling low. It never misses a round at the pub and it knows just how I like my crumpets. It laughs at my jokes and never leaves the seat up.
Oh blogging, how I love thee.
How have you changed in the past year?

Step 1. Remove shoes and socks.
Step 2. Remove outer clothes.
Step 3. Remove underwear.
Step 4. (Optional) Throw dirty clothes in the laundry hamper.
Step 5. Put on fresh underwear, outer clothes, socks, and shoes (in the reverse order of Steps 1-3).
I don't know why that was all that hard, littleduckling. Didn't someone teach you how to change when you were growing up?
What did you learn in kindergarten that you wish you did a better job of applying to the way you live your life today?
At kindergarten I was told off for colouring people in yellow but I only did it because I didn't have a light pink pencil and red was too dark in living my life today I wish I could apply a better job of not colouring in people yellow when they wouldn't mind being red espeically if they've been in the sun for a long time if they were white to start off with.
That and constructing sentences.
First "Brokeback Mountain" was a short story written by Annie Proulx. Then, it was a movie directed by Ang Lee. Next, it will be an opera slated to premier during New York's City Opera's 2013 season.
What movie/book would you most like to see turned into an opera?
キャリア変更や機種変更などが付き物の携帯電話やPHSの思い出を教えてください。
電話というか、その前に、小学4年生の時に、アマチュア無線技師の資格を取って、無線通信にとても関心がある、ある意味
まさに進む電波少年（苦笑）だったわけで。
バブル期直前が大学生だったので、当時ショルダーフォンを持っていた記憶があります。
まだ携帯電話は、NTTから借りるというスタイルで、後発で出てきた、IDO(後にNTTの兄弟分の国際部門のKDDと第二電電DDIと合併して、現在のKDDI)や東京デジタルフォン(東海・関西とセルラーを合併してJフォン、のちVodafoneJPを経て現ソフトバンクモバイル(若しくはソフトバンク？))に乗り換えるか凄く迷った事がありました。
当時の早稲田の杜は、携帯電話の電波のダークスポットのような、圏外地域でもあり、今となってはかなり懐かしいポケベル全盛期にかろうじてポケベルはかかるという場所だったので、肩掛けにしなくていい、IDOのレンタル携帯のMotorolaのマイクロタックが出たときは、かなり衝撃でした。
同時期に、エンハンスドフルレートを売りに音質のいい、デジタル波での通信で差別化してきた東京デジタルホンにも、魅せられて、IDOに「御社はデジタル化しないのか？」と電話でかなり談判した覚えがあります。若かった。笑
当時のIDOの回答は「弊社はアナログでいきます」といわれ、あっさり解約。
以来東京デジタルフォンユーザーとして、携帯電話の頭番号三桁が030の時代からずっと同じ番号を使っていますね。
ただ、電話機種については、後にレンタルから売り切りに販売スタイルが変わり、ｉモードの登場と共に、インターネットが身近になったのもあり、当時はパケット定額制がなかったので辛かったですが、出るたびに機種変更をしてきた気がします。
今は既に携帯電話市場から撤退してしまった、PIONEERや三菱電機の機種も結構特徴的でかなり好きでした。
後フォン時代にはSMSにあたるメール機能が充実し、絵文字の他社間とのブリッジサービスが出たり、業界も色々工夫を
重ねてきたのでしょうが、最近、騒がしい、DoCoMoさんやauさんのRFCを無視した仕様には正直ちょっと疑問を感じます。
なににせよ、携帯の進化とともに、情報通信に興味を持ち、ネットの便利さをおじいちゃんやおばあちゃんにも知ってもらいたい、
そんな思いが芽生えたのを覚えています。
当時は、コンピューティングの世界のヘッドクオーターにいたり、ネットビジネスをどうインキュベートするかの事業化の事ばかりで
財務畑でしたが、イントラネット構築やら、SAP導入やらで、ネットワークにも興味を持つ辺りからモバイル通信に、どんどん
のめり込んで行った気がします。
PHS、なくなっちゃうんですねー。ASTELそして、NTTパーソナルとなくなっていくのかぁ。
巡り巡って、3キャリア＋Willcomさん、E-Mobileさん、AT&Tさんとも契約することになった時期もありました。
整理整頓して、今はCingularとDoCoMoにSoftbankMobile、Willcom、E-Mobileと、落ち着いています。
Webもようやく携帯の時代に突入して、ますます進化するのでしょう が、ちょっとその方向性が、微妙だなと違和感を感じるこの頃です。
日本の携帯だけハイスペック過ぎ。笑
カメラに、テレビ・ラジオに、おさいふ機能に、ゲームにと。てんこもりですね。
実態使いたい機能だけセレクトできて作れる世界となると、GoogleさんとこからでてきたAndroid系のものになるのかなぁ
なんて思ったりします。
先日、NYから成田までの飛行機内で、映画「ボーンアルティメイタム」を3回見ました。
ボーンを追う刺客が、携帯のカメラでストリーミング動画で、司令部へ現場映像を送信しながら、部屋に侵入するシーンがありました。
なんか使い方、すごい時代が変わったもんだなぁと思いました。(ちなみにモトローラ製で、昔ベッカム選手がCMしていたやつでした)
なにやかやで、整理整頓して結構な台数の携帯を乗り換えてきましたが。
せいぜい、散財にならないよう自重いたします。
反省と鎮魂の意味も込めて、画像を貼ってみます。
ちなみに画像はすべｇて、「携帯電話のカメラ機能で撮影した」画像でした。ちょっと自分でも驚きました。
MovableTypeを200１年11月からいじりはじめて、dhさんのとこのmoblogのゲートウェイをお借りして、始めたflickr、気がつけば、ずいぶんと沢山撮影したもんだなと。
ちょっと懐古してしまいました。
What do you do when you get a crush on someone?

Take pictures of them sleeping, stare at them through the crack of the closet door, re-arrange the dolls on the shelf so they look like their moving, barely whisper so they think they hear voices, time when they get off work so they won't catch you at their house eating pancakes and scratching your balls with their brass candle holder shaped like a goose, the usual goofy stuff love makes you do.

We are having a debate amongst my friends about the consequences of mythological monsters fighting/infecting each other. For example; What would be the implications of a zombie biting a vampire or vice versa. We have little doubt that a Zombie could infect a werewolf but how would that affect his metamorphosis, if at all? So let me know what you think and what rules you are going by for eache character (i.e. Romero Zombies, Rice Vampires).

Which popular slang expression drives you nuts?
Well. "That's so gay," and it's lame-brained first cousin, "that's so hot."
It annoys me not just because anyone who says either of those two things immediately loses IQ points (in my eyes, at least) but because both of those things so utterly lack imagination. If you want to insult or compliment someone, do it with at least a halfway original thought. If someone is acting like an imbecile, don't say, "dude, ur so gay", say something like, "even a dachshund with a lame leg could get it's work done quicker than you."
Laugh at how long it takes them to work out what a dachshund is and why it's having a lame leg would matter before they manage to get angry at you. Trust me, it's worth it.
Oh, and have I mentioned the fact that I have no internets is making me cranky?
